• AJ's 1st Annual Scallywag Harbor Art Contest

  Calling All Kids 12 and Under!
  AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar is sponsoring its first Annual Art Contest. The overall winning design will be used for the new kid’s
  T-shirt in AJ’s Gift shop. A portion of sales from this shirt will go to support the Destin Fishing Museum. All submissions will
  receive a prize & certificate. The winners will be on display September 27, 2008 at the Rodeo kickoff party at AJ’s as well as
  area businesses in Destin during the month of October.
  All entries must be turned in to AJ’s Gift Shop or postmarked no later than September 1, 2008.

• Meet Miss Destin (September 18th)
  Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 6:00 pm, the Inn on Destin Harbor will host an Introduction party for Miss Leah Stuart, Miss Destin 2008.
  
  
• Captain and Mate's Party (September 24th)
  Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at 5:00 pm, the Destin History and Fishing Museum will host a Destin Charter Boat Captain and Mate's party for all Charter Boats registered in the 2008 Destin Fishing Rodeo. The event is hosted by the Destin Charter Boat Association.
  
  
• Rock the Dock Kick Off Party (September 26th)
  Saturday, September 26, 2008, at 2:00 pm, is the date of the 60th Annual Destin Fishing Rodeo Rock the Dock Party at A.J.'s Seafood and Oyster Bar. The event will have a carnival-like atmosphere centered on children! There will be wagon boat parade, clowns and games for all. At 5:00 the atmosphere becomes more focused on the adults with a buffet dinner followed by an old-fashioned street dance!

• 60th Annual Destin Fishing Rodeo (October 1st - 31st)
  Come join us at the 60th Annual Destin Fishing Rodeo. Weigh-Ins are everyday behind A.J.'s from 10 am - 7 pm.
  
  
• Destin Seafood Festival (October 3rd, 4th & 5th)
  The 30th Annual Destin Seafood Festival is moving back to the Harbor October 3, 4 & 5, 2008! Entertainment from the Commodores and Atlanta Rhythm Section along with others will be on hand while you enjoy fresh seafood and great arts and crafts! Buy one of your Destin Fishing Rodeo T-Shirts at the festival!
  
  
• Rootin Tootin Rodeo Round-Up (October 18th)
  Saturday, October 18, 2008, bring your child 12 and under to the Okaloosa Island Pier for a fun-filled morning of fishing on the pier. The round-up begins at 9:00 am and ends with lunch on the dock at noon. The cost is $10.00 per child and includes pier fee for the angler and his/her parents, a tee-shirt, bait, a rod and reel to keep and lunch.

• 60th Annual Destin Fishing Rodeo Awards (November 8th)
  Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 4:00 pm. The lucky anglers, captains, and mates will be given their prizes in a festive, fun, casual gathering upstairs at A.J.'s!
  

January 2009

• Board of Directors Meeting (January 29th)
  Thursday, January 29, 2009, at A.J.’s Seafood and Oyster Bar on Highway 98 at 6:00 pm. The meeting is open to all members of the Rodeo. Dress is casual and hors d’ oeuvres are free. This is a Members Only event. Membership fees must be paid prior to the meeting. Membership info.
  
  

Miss Destin Pageant

The pageant is not a beauty contest, the young lady who receives the title of Miss Destin is judged on her personality, school and community involvement, communication skills and grade point average. She serves as a public figure throughout the year, representing Destin at many functions, including the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo.

• High-school girls between the ages of 16 and 19
• $2,000 cash scholarship
• Additional scholarship moneys are awarded the 1st and 2nd runners-up
• Fun-filled social events planned
